Inspiration
I live in Loma Linda and there is a crossroad near my neighborhood which only has one stop sign on one direction. Everyday it is very dangerous for me to drive pass that crossroad as cars from the direction without stop sign usually drive really fast. I always want to send a comment to Loma Linda city about this, but without a handy and convenient tool, I would always forget about this after passing that crossroad. So, a platform which could allow citizens provide faster and cleaner location-based feedback in a convenient way is a win-win to both community and citizens.
What it does
This application is developed for all major smartphone operating systems provide a fast and convenient way for citizens to report their urgent concerned issues related to their day-to-day life. Apart from 3D map-view reporting mechanism, it also builds a location-based reporting system which do a smart filter of nearby issues recommendation to save time on submitting long forms and reducing duplicated reports: a new crowd-source and VGI-based platform.
How we built it
We used React, ArcGIS api for JavaScript, Esri products and platform (ArcGIS pro and ArcGIS Online) and design tools like Sketch and Adobe Illustrator to design and build our Super Approach.
Challenges we ran into
Not familiar with React and libraries used before Hackathon There are several designers on the team, which is a good thing, but sometimes also hard to coordinate among each person's idea Limit time and coffee
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud that we insisted on our original idea. At first we had some doubts on our idea, but with plenty of discussions and meetings, we developed a project that we were all passionate about.
What we learned
How to coordinate in a team which includes developers, UI/UX designers, cartographer, GIS specialists: timely communication
What's next for Super Approach
Plug in data from Quick Report and Hub Add location-based government surveys and polls and include AR into the surveys and polls Create spatial analysis for further government decision making Add issues-tracking functions to know the progress status of the issues
