Inspiration
As lovers of music, we want our music to be able to match how we feel. Translating our feelings to a tempo and being able to listen to music that corresponds to that tempo would be extremely satisfactory.
What it does
So, we built an application that calculates the tempo or beats per minute that the user inputs. Then, the app pulls up a playlist that is full of songs that are in the range of the tempo songs with the user-inputted tempo.
How we built it
After spending hours learning how interfaces and web API connections worked, we were able to program a metronome, and link it to the Spotify database to create playlists with certain ranges of tempos.
Challenges we ran into
We did not know how to create interfaces or use web API connections. We had to use our resources to learn these skills quickly and apply them to create our desired application.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of being able to utilize our previous coding experience to quickly learn how to implement GUI's and other visual components of the Java.
What we learned
We learned how to use GUI's, interfaces, web API connections and other visual components of Java.
What's next for Swings
We want to be able to broaden the database of music and increase user control on the specification of their desired music. We also want to be able to use the user's heart rate to give them music suggestions that match their heart rate with the tempo of the music.
