Inspiration

The idea behind Talkmo was allowing students who deemed themselves social butterflies to have a chance of meeting and talking with others. Talkmo is facilitating the chance for students to have a chance of doing this.

What it does

Talkmo is a public proximity chat that picks up nearby Talkmo users and notifies them of each other, it allows people with similar interests to come together and Talk more.

How we built it

the idea behind talkmo is that we use bluetooth connection to discover new devices nearby and than from there we'll check whether the device has Talkmo installed after that we ping both users and notify them of nearby Talkmo users allowing them to initiate a possible conversation.

Challenges we ran into

One of our biggest challenges we ran into was taking on too much too soon, our project involved a lot of things that were new to our team and we had difficulties trying to put it all together whilst also managing the team.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're proud with the ideation and planning phase of Talkmo as we were able to not only come up with the idea but also think about it in a long term space and what it could look in the future.

We managed to implement a complete interface and video pitch that captures the essence of talkmo and provides the proof of concept for the application

What we learned

We learnt how to better ideate and plan our scope for future projects. How to use github to recovery, fork and deploy code. Editting and pitching a user story effectively.

What's next for Talkmo

The future of Talkmo allowing users to meet each other in greater groups and possibly even solo travelling. This means that for people who are trying to travel or go to events there are always talkmo users that support bigger groups moving together. This could be done by providing activties for Talkmo users in a specific area and possibly inviting them to take on different challenges throughout their day.
