Inspiration
Our inspiration was based on helping teachers and students be able to more discretely ask questions or leave the room without having to disrupt the lecture.
What it does
This collaborative website allows teachers to make a virtual classroom, and then have students join the classroom by selecting a desk. After the class as started, the student can ask for help by clicking the help button to signal the teacher for help. They can also chat with the teacher directly and the teacher can come to them, or privately message the student to help them. Students are not able to message each other, making it less disruptive and easier to for teachers to not answer repetitive questions. This also allows students to leave the classroom without alerting everybody in case they don't want everyone to know where they're going (like the bathroom since it's their time of the month or the nurses office for their medicine)
How we built it
We used React for the frontend along with websockets to make it interactive. Our backend is Node.js and MongoDB.
What's next for TeacherAid
We are working to make it so that AI can be used to scan the teacher's public chat and combine multiple similar questions into one so that it makes it easier for the teacher to answer less repetitive questions.
Built With
