TerpTally

Inspiration

We were inspired to create ways to make finance and looking at your spending fun. Inspired by by popular social media apps and ideas we looked to make the first ever "Spotify Wrapped" of spending, encouraging users to look closer at their finances.

What it does

TerpTally is a tool to analyze and visualize your spending histories. It converts and uploads your data into a more readable and parseable format that allows for a variety of visualizations and analyses such as comparing your data to the average American by comparing your data to the Consumer Expenditure Survey.

How we built it

The backend is hosted with firebase while the frontend was built with flutter with a priority on the android release target.

Challenges we ran into

This was the first time working with flutter for all of us and the majority of us were first time hackers so learning new technologies and hackathons in general was a very challenging task!

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're proud of our firebase backend as it's styled in a way that allows for future innovation and expansion on our ideas

What we learned

We learned how to work together as a team and technologies such as flutter and firebase

What's next for TerpTally

Additional graph visualization formats, general UI improvements, and even more incorpoation of public sector data. Additionally because the data is hosted securely online we can further the social media aspect by perhaps allowing you to compare your spending to your friends for certain topics
