Inspiration
The inspiration behind TerraTech is to address the challenges of food security and sustainable agriculture, while also promoting innovative technology that can help reduce water waste and optimize plant growth.
What it does
TerraTech utilises sensors to detect soil moisture level, temperature, and humidity to automate watering and control plant growth conditions, ensuring optimal yield and promoting sustainable agriculture practices.
How we built it
We built TerraTech using a combination of hardware and software, including sensors, microcontrollers, and a user interface for monitoring and controlling plant growth conditions.
Challenges we ran into
Some of the challenges we faced during the development of TerraTech included integrating the various hardware and software components, optimising the system for different plant species, and ensuring accuracy and reliability of the sensor data. A specific problem was faced was building the chassis and getting the motor to run properly. To solve this we tried various things such as rewiring, soldering, and debugging code.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of creating a functioning prototype of TerraTech and overcoming all the challenges.
What we learned
During the development of TerraTech, we learned about the importance of integrating hardware and software components, to need to optimise systems for different plant species, and the potential impact of innovative technology on the agricultural industry.
What's next for TerraTech
In the future, we plan to continue refining and improving TerraTech, exploring new features such as remote monitoring and control, expanding the system's capabilities for different types of plants, and exploring potential commercial applications.
