The textbooks we read are often dense with terms that we are not very familiar with. And this tool allows us to makes it easier for us to understand any topic in a very simple manner.
Inspiriration: we often spend too much time searching for information and are given too many choices when we search it and do not know which is the most relevant
What it does: it takes a picture and scans it for text. it then runs the text through the java program and returns educational keyword that are in the picture. it then searches for the most relevant information to the keyword online and presents it concisely.
How we built it: by using java for the backend and html and javascript for the front end and our blood,sweat and tears to fuel our laptops
Challenges we ran into: AWS did not allow us to use some services. and we had trouble connecting the backend to the frontend
Accomplishments that we're proud of: there is sufficient evidence that this could be a viable product if given more time.
What we learned: the internet is a mighty tool. lots of stuff.
What's next for Textbook study assistant: expand it to other websites and provide past papers and connect all services in one java server
