Inspiration

At the intersection of AI and crypto lies untapped potential. Many web3 products envision on-chain AI as the future, bringing transparency, provability, and decentralization to AI interactions. However, most existing oracle solutions face limitations—either in centralized control or restricted capabilities. Theseus AI addresses these gaps by enabling verifiable and decentralized AI computation on-chain, breaking new ground in blockchain-integrated AI.

What it Does

Theseus AI is a decentralized AI oracle that allows developers to integrate powerful AI functionalities directly into smart contracts. By using a network of permissionless nodes, the platform parses complex OpenAI LLM requests and returns granular, transparent results. Theseus empowers developers to bring essential AI computations on-chain in a way that is decentralized, scalable, and verifiable.

How We Built It

We leveraged cutting-edge tools to create Theseus AI, including NEAR Protocol’s events indexer, Socket.IO, ZeroMQ, NEAR CLI, Next.js, and Express. These technologies work together to form a robust infrastructure for decentralized AI computations.

Challenges We Encountered

Building agentic frameworks for advanced use cases in Theseus AI brought its own set of challenges, particularly with nesting complex LLM patterns. These intricate requirements demanded innovative problem-solving to ensure stability and performance on-chain.

Key Accomplishments

We’re proud to have implemented a distribution layer for our oracle service, enabling multiple Theseus nodes to handle compute requests in parallel. This approach maximizes efficiency and ensures that AI LLM requests are seamlessly processed in a decentralized environment.

Lessons Learned

This journey taught us the intricacies of merging decentralized protocols with AI capabilities. We discovered effective patterns for handling compute-heavy tasks in a decentralized context and learned valuable lessons in optimizing on-chain AI integrations.

What’s Next for Theseus AI

Our roadmap includes:

  • Zero-Knowledge Verifiability: To bring cryptographic proofs for AI computations, further enhancing trust.
  • Enhanced Data Primitives: To better support and sustain our AI initiatives, empowering developers with richer data structures.
  • Incentivize the Nodes: To reward nodes that contribute computational power by connecting to Theseus.

Theseus AI is poised to redefine on-chain AI integrations, paving the way for a new era of verifiable, decentralized AI on the blockchain.
