100PAY - Payment Gateway

Inspiration

Cross-border payment has always been a major problem in the world. One of my team members have tried sending money to her relation abroad for medical treatment which was urgent, and sending it through the bank will result to delay in receiving payments (In days, sometimes weeks) and high transaction charges incurred in processing the payment. I also render services to clients globally and we are faced at accepting payments from them using bank transfers or card payment without the banks deducting huge charges from me that will cut my profit ratio, that was why we decided to develop a solution that will allow anyone in the world accept/receive/send payment around the world without 3rd parties (the banks) process their payment using the Blockchain.

What it does

100pay allows users to send and receive payment globally. Business and individuals can accept payments from their customers easily via Invoices, payment pages and through the checkout payment gateway that can be integrated into their web applications/Mobile apps for their customer to pay them. We have also added ThetaToken network as list of our supported crypto payment options.

How we built it

We had to make our research on how blockchain works, that means transitioning from Web2 to Web3, after gathering our informations and studies we then formed a team to enable us build the solution. We built with NODEJS for the backend and API's, then VUE.js as the Front-end Javascript Framework, Tailwind css for styling and Solidity to interact with Blockchain Nodes and we deployed on Digitalocean cloud infrastructure .

Challenges we ran into

One major challenges we faced was access to Funding, because the infrastructures required to build and host 100pay infrastructures was money intensive and runway funds to keep the team going. Other challenges were some technical issues and bugs which we have been able to fix and updated while developing and also the markets, we had to educate the users with knowledge on how to interact with crypto and blockchains which took us time because of resources (Video tutorial, Blogpost and Webinars) and contents to enable them understand it works.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Accomplishment we are proud of is seen how the problem been faced with payments has been solved using 100pay and how we have been able to scale and penetrate the market with users globally using 100pay for daily transactions. Also we can now interact with ThetaToken Network.

What we learned

We learnt that anything you set your heart to do as an individual is achievable, and that paying attention to users need/demand is one way geared towards them using your solution. We now have good knowledge about the web3 space and how to interact with different blockchains.
