Inspiration

We were inspired by the first Olympic games in ancient Greece. We looked at the ancient traditions of the Olympics such as chariot racing and javelin throwing.

What it does

There is a hub world that the user spawns into, they then can start the game and enter the arena. There they are placed in a chariot going around a track for 90 seconds. They must hit as many targets with spears as they can.

How we built it

We used Unity with C#. We used Unity version control to all collaborate on the project. We used unity asset manager to find some presets to help us in our design, but all levels and maps are designed by ourselves.

Challenges we ran into

The score system makes the game lag so we had to temporarily disable that feature. Also not having used unity before, the beginning of the project was a struggle and very time consuming as everyone learned how to navigate unity.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are very proud that we were able to complete the game in 24 hours. Given none of us have any experience creating a VR game, we are excited to have a working product to be able to submit. The level design and the movement of being in the chariot are both very exciting accomplishments for us.

What we learned

We had never used unity or mad a VR game. We learned an entirely new editor and coding language.

What's next for Thwackathon

We will fix the timer and add more game modes.
