Inspiration

Inspired by the numerous small business shown on tiktok and the street vendors on our daily commute, we have always wondered why these hidden gems don't receive the recognition they deserve?

What it does

Create a user or business account. From there users will be able to view the locations of small businesses on the website in their area. They are also able to search around their city for spots that are further away. Clicking on a pin on the map allows the users to get an insight on the business!

How we built it

Our team constructed this website utilizing React, Tailwind CSS, and firebase. In the backend we stored business information where business locations are converted to coordinates which correlate to the pins placed on the map.

Challenges we ran into

We encountered numerous issues with syncing up in version control and ensuring our current implementations do not clash with the work of another one of the teammates.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of having an interactive website where we can have information stored. Achieving the storage and displaying of information was something that gave us many opportunities to learn new skills.

What we learned

We further developed our development skills with version control, frontend, backend, and our collaborative skills.

What's next for TideTogether

Up next we hope to implement features for popup shops where pins could be placed with an expiration time when the popup is done. Similarly we hope to include features allowing vendors to move their pins as they please as in some cases vendors move their set up spot.
