Inspiration
We loved the idea of sharing our most cherrished memories easier. We enjoy having our pictures and stories at a hands reach in our mobile phones, but the nostalgia of having photos printed out never dies out. That's why we decided to combine the two. Use the printed out photos as a base and keep all the details and more photos online. For convenience the print-outs contain a QR code, for a quicker access across the timeline.
What it does
The application allows us to view, browse and filter the stored moments. Along with that, it is capable of creating and scanning a QR code. This allows to get to an event faster than going through the whole timeline.
How we built it
We used the Flutter framework for the multiplatformity, divided the work into UI, QR code manager and data management. This was split between us and merged together a few times during the hackaton.
Challenges we ran into
We faced challenges with some animations and layouts we wanted to achieve, with storing the data and persisting the correct id and a few times struggled with the QR code scanning. Overcoming the internet outage was a true pain since our app is connecting to the firebase.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of creating a real world application that is a bit more than a proof of concept, and could be used quickly for some early access.
What we learned
We learned work division, working with Flutter on a bigger project and what a merging hell could look like.
What's next for Timelive
Ideally, we would like to clean up the application a bit, make it more flexible for different use-cases. These can include teams, companies or even families.
