Inspiration

Our project was inspired by our own stories along with our peers'. A lot of us have silently batted with mental health and didn't feel safe contacting our advisors. We decided to create an app that can help a future generation of students deal with mental health in a positive way. As for schools, we wanted to give them an easy way to help students, get to know their struggles and how to help.

What it does

Track cat is an app where you can track daily your emotions anonymously. Schools have access to students' responses and can help and prevent or stop self-harm, suicide, bullying and burnout.

How we built it

We used JavaScript and Python to create the logic of the app, and we implemented React Native as a framework to shape the structure of our code.

Challenges we ran into

Some challenges we ran into were learning how to code certain elements of the app such as the slider and the buttons as well as finding compatible dependencies to work with. We also struggled to figure out the databases, servers, and API connectivity.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of being able to work as a team, we found common ground in speaking about our own struggles with mental health.

What we learned

We learned how to use new tools in our programing like APIs and React native.

What's next for Track Cat

We hope track cat can be a helpful resource n every school, and eventually to anyone who wants to use it.
