Inspiration

Screen time is at an all time high, still riding the high from when we were in quarantine. However, this high has a devastating low. Increased anxiety, impulse control issues, headaches, increased stress, and increased heartrate. This only list a few of the many symptoms of dopamine overload, screen time being one of the factors in dopamine overstimulation. The lack of public knowledge of this danger inspired me to create an educational dopamine diet tracker called Track It Back, allowing the user to track certain activities that contribute to their dopamine levels.

What it does

Track It Back displays information and ratings of healthy dopamine activities and factors in dopamine overstimulation through the form of a survey. Once the user fills out the survey, the app processes the info and displays those numbers next to the score they receive. 1-100, the higher the number, the worst your dopamine diet is for the overstimulation scale, and the higher the number is on the healthy scale, the healthier your diet is.

How we built it

I built Track It Back using React, tailwindcss, and some React Libraries like React Router and react-gauges

Challenges we ran into

Most of the technology I implemented were completely new, like React Router, react-gauges, and local storage. more than half the time was figuring out these technologies, implementing it, and connecting it with the existing system in place.

Accomplishments that we're proud of and learnings

I'm proud that I was able to learn routing, library instillation, and local storage applications. All of these felt like huge gaps I crossed when I successfully implemented them in my application. These learnings are crucial to me and will allow me to build more robust apps in the future. On top of that I also had to do some deeper research into dopamine overstimulation and what causes it to make the app more accurate to rating.

What's next for Track It Back

The future of Track It Back is bright, I don't intend on letting it sit in GitHub repos after this hackathon. Features like consistent, daily dopamine tracking like a habit tracker. And daily, weekly, and monthly scores giving you feedback all the way through.
