The opportunity
In the modern world people can easily get frustrated by the variety of options to spend their money on and they can lose track of the expenses. Therefore, we want to encourage them to start saving up the funds by letting them know which of their expenses are non-recurrent and can be invested into savings account.
Our solution
Our solution allows customers to calculate their personalized ultimate savings plan and set long- or short-term goals. We also not intrusively trigger their desire to start a savings account, guide them to the best solutions and suggest possible goals for their savings. We have developed a unique and smart algorithm, which labels, categorizes and sorts customers’ expenses into recurring and not-recurring, allowing easy tracking of their money.
How we built it
We propose one way of using our inovative system by incorporating it into a flexible, responsive and easy-to-use mobile application. We used real transaction data-set to demonstrate how our algorithm runs in the real life environment. Link to the dataset
Challenges we ran into
The main challenge for us was to come up with a different perspective on how to solve the problem of detecting the types of expenses. Also, the provided API was troublesome.
Accomplishments
We are proud of our project that was created in a great team of three. Which includes people with different skill sets and who could cope with tight schedule and competition pressure. We got a fresh vision on how to look at the data and detect non-recurring expenses.
What we learned
We trained our mathematical and creative skills. And came up with an equation that suggests the solution for the problem.
