Inspiration
When I saw the theme of this hackathon I immediately thought about my Grade 6 and 7 talent shows where I performed magic. I remembered the joy I had doing magic for my whole school, so this is why I created Trycks.
What it does
Trycks is a website where you can easily perform three different types of magic tricks that involve tech! There are 3 tricks that you can select to perform on the main page
1st Trick: I will first explain how the first trick works. To setup the trick click the circle with the ace of spades and ace of hearts. Then take out a card from your card deck. Once you have done that you will see that once you have clicked the circle it would redirect you to a card selection page. Select the card that you chose and then select the suit of that card. You will then be redirected to the trick screen page. First hover over the first card and then click the magic hat button and that will change the card. This makes the spectator believe that everytime the button is pressed a different card will pop up. Only press the button EXACTLY 3 times to show the spectator that the cards are different. Then hand the device to the spectator. Once the button is clicked more than four times the card will be replaced with the card you selected on the previous page.
2nd Trick: To setup the trick click the second circle with the calculator. You will be then be redirected to a screen where you can enter a number to force. Enter that number, write it down on a piece of paper, and then click submit. You will then be redirected to a calculator screen multiply the cards that they chose and once you click the equals sign, the number that will appear will be the spectator's selected number.
3rd Trick: To setup the trick click the third circle with the card deck. You will be then be redirected to a screen where you can enter a card. Enter a card and suit and you are setup. Now you will have to force a card on your spectator, which means forcing them to pick a certain card. Futhermore, you will need to force the card that you selected on the previous page. There are plenty of card forces, I suggest you watch the video which I have put below. Once you have forced a card on your spectator you will then ask them to "scratch" the rectangle and it will then reveal your card.

How we built it
I used Sublime Text and the languages of code that I used were Javascript, HTML, CSS.
Challenges we ran into
I found it pretty hard to make the calculator look nice with CSS as I barely use it! I also found it hard to create the "scratch effect" that reveals the spectator's card
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Considering this is only my fourth hackathon I'm very happy with my project. I was also able to finish this project in only 3 days with school, so Im pretty proud of that aswell.
What we learned
I learned ALOT more about CSS. Before this hackathon, I only had a little bit of knowledge about it because no one ever taught me. But this hackathon taught me how to style elements with css much more effectively.
What's next for Trycks
I plan to make this a mobile app so that way its easier for someone to use and I also plan to add more magic tricks that you can perform!
