Inspiration
We wanted to create our own unique twist of a typing game.
What it does
Once the user enters the game, the timer and bot opponent will be prompted to start immediately. The user then has to type the text on the screen before the bot or timer finishes to win. If the user succeeds/fails in accomplishing this task, they will be sent to the exit screen with a winning/losing message respectively.
How I built it
Our typing game was built entirely through the Godot Game Engine. By using the tools that Godot provided us and coding each aspect of our game accordingly, we were able to optimize the functionality of the game to perform what we intended.
Challenges I ran into
We all never used the Godot game engine before, so learning everything from its functions to the layout of the tools provided. We spent a lot of the time trying to find where specific options were.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
As a whole, we are pretty proud of how the project turned out. We were a bit ambitious with the functions and had to do lots of outside research on how to code them like the timer.
What I learned
From this experience, we learned a decent amount of knowledge of how to use the Godot Game Engine and gained some insight into the processes necessary to create an interactive game. We also learned various different functions pertaining to timing, measuring, and accessing the user's performance against a bot opponent.
