We built this app as a way for students to find other students who may have similar interests and schedules to eat lunch/dinner and connect with. This was especially important to us because our team is comprised of college freshman, and it can be difficult to find friends the first year of college. We have never participated in a hackathon before, and this was our first experience developing and launching a full stack app in 24 hours.
We used React, Bootstrap, Vite for the frontend and Flask/Singlestore for the backend.
We connected our UCSBites.tech domain from get.tech to Render which is hosting our React Web Application by routing its DNS. This was important for us to get a professional looking website by the end of the hackathon.
We ran a cluster on SingleStore and used it as a database for our users which was very important in the backend.
We attempted to implement Midnight Web3 technologies into our application, but we faced issues connecting to their servers.
Overall, we learned a lot at this hackathon and are very grateful to all of the organizers and sponsors for hosting this hackathon!
