UGlow

Inspiration

UGlow started from a deeply personal journey. I struggled for years trying to improve my looks and confidence but found that most advice out there was either scattered, unrealistic, or just plain fake. I wanted something simple, practical, and personalized — something that could actually guide people day-by-day, not just inspire them for 5 minutes. That’s why I decided to build UGlow, an app that makes self-improvement feel accessible, doable, and sustainable.

What it does

UGlow helps people improve their looks and confidence through AI-guided daily routines. Users tell their Glow Up goals, they get their daily tailored Glow Up routines and users can track their Glow Up progress & routines daily. It’s like having your own glow-up coach in your pocket, keeping you consistent and motivated every single day.

How we built it

• Kotlin Multiplatform for cross-platform development • AI API from OpenAI & OpenRouter • Supabase for backend & database

Challenges we ran into

The biggest challenge was balancing speed of development with quality. I had to resist the temptation to overbuild and instead focus on what was most essential for launch. Another challenge was figuring out the right messaging — making sure UGlow didn’t sound too niche or intimidating, so it could appeal to a wider audience.

Accomplishments that we’re proud of

We’ve officially launched UGlow on the App Store. We earned our first revenue and achieved 30 organic downloads — all without spending a single cent on customer acquisition (0 CAC). We also started building a small but growing community on Instagram and TikTok through authentic UGC content.

What we learned

We learned that authenticity beats perfection. People connect more with the real journey, struggles, and progress rather than a polished, corporate brand. We also learned that even a simple product can get traction if it solves a real problem and is positioned in a relatable way.

What’s next for UGlow

We’re focused on growing the community, adding more AI features to make routines even smarter, and refining the onboarding process so every new user feels guided and understood from day one. The long-term goal is to make UGlow the go-to platform for self-improvement that’s natural, personal, and actually works.
