Ummah Pulse 🌍

See the Need. Send the Cure. Watch it Heal.

Inspiration

The "Spotlight Inequality": In the modern humanitarian landscape, aid often follows virality. Most conflicts and crises only get seen through the lens of social media trends, which leaves millions of others suffering in total silence. Millions of people remain invisible under the global spotlight, making it nearly impossible for them to receive the help they desperately need. We built Ummah Pulse to give everyone a chance to be seen. Our mission is to make "invisible" crises visible and provide a transparent bridge between the donor and the ground.

What it does

Ummah Pulse is a live, interactive "Mission Control" for humanity:

  • Live Crisis Heatmap: A dark-mode interactive globe that visualizes crises across the world. Color-coded zones (Burgundy/Red → Orange → Yellow → Green) indicate urgency, ensuring that needs are prioritized by severity, not by what is currently trending.
  • Deep-Dive Exploration: Tapping a zone opens a detailed dashboard showing exactly what is happening, the specific funding goals vs. current funded status, and recommended actions (Zakat/Sadaqah-ready causes).
  • Visual Impact Tracking: Donors don't just send money; they follow it. We track donations visually so you can see exactly where your contribution goes and the impact it creates.
  • Proof of Impact: Donors receive verified updates throughout the lifecycle of the aid: from "Money Sent" to "Project Funded," followed by "Progress Updates" and final "Outcome Metrics" (e.g., “X families served,” “Y wells built”).
  • Voice to the Unheard: By highlighting zones that rarely go viral, we ensure that communities in remote or censored districts still show up and get funded. ## How we built it We focused on creating a premium, cinematic experience that inspires trust and action:
  • Next.js & React: For a high-performance, modular application architecture.
  • Mapbox GL: To power the interactive 3D globe and precise coordinate mapping.
  • Framer Motion: To handle the cinematic camera physics and the smooth "Donation Beam" animations that bridge the donor to the impact zone.
  • Tailwind CSS: For a sleek, dark-mode "Glassmorphism" UI design.
  • Direct-to-Ground Logic: We integrated verified on-ground partners to ensure transparency and direct distribution. ## Challenges we ran into
  • Visualizing Urgency: Designing a heatmap that effectively communicates distress levels while maintaining a premium aesthetic was a significant UI challenge.
  • Camera Interpolation: Smoothing out the transitions from a global "Macro" view down to the "Micro" details of a specific hospital or refugee camp required complex easing functions.
  • Humanizing the Data: Balancing raw statistics (funding goals) with the emotional weight of humanitarian crises to inspire action without causing "compassion fatigue." ## Accomplishments that we're proud of
  • Visibility for the Unseen: We've successfully mapped regions—like remote districts in Afghanistan or the Kashmir Valley—that are often ignored by mainstream platforms.
  • The "Follow the Money" Flow: Creating a clear, visual journey for the donor from contribution to outcome.
  • Premium UX: Building a platform that feels like a modern mission control center, making humanitarian aid feel as high-tech and transparent as possible. ## What we learned
  • Transparency is the Key to Trust: We learned that donors are far more likely to contribute when they can see exactly where their money is landing and what it is buying.
  • Maps as Narratives: We discovered that an interactive map is a powerful storytelling tool that can make a global crisis feel local and personal. ## What's next for Ummah Pulse
  • Outcome Dashboard 2.0: Expanding the metrics suite to include live logistical tracking for aid shipments.
  • Community Verification: Building a role-based system for on-ground contributors to upload live video snapshots of project milestones.
  • Micro-Philanthropy: Allowing users to fund specific "Line Items" in a crisis zone (e.g., "Buy 1 blanket for this specific camp").
