Inspiration

During the research phase, I gathered challenges in existing travel websites. There were websites solely that help disabled people to see facilities in tourist places however they did not involve able people's navigation. I wanted to create a website that is more inclusive for both diverse disabled people as well as for abled people.

What it does

The Universal Travel Guide aims to empower travelers with disabilities by providing reliable accessibility information, trip planning tools, and community support for inclusive travel experiences along with able people. Through this initiative, we strive to enhance accessibility and promote equal participation in travel adventures for all.

How we built it

In the design phase, we will create wireframes and visual designs for the Universal Travel Guide's user interface. This includes designing the layout, structure, and visual elements to ensure a user-friendly and accessible experience for travelers with disabilities.

Challenges we ran into

I was solely handling the project, so my first challenge was to research existing websites and applications and conduct heuristic evaluations. The second challenge was I was not able to convert the project into High Fidelity due to team size and time constraints.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

The key features, like alternative routes, nearby dining spots and restrooms, and the connection with locals.

What I learned

I learned that to address accessibility we do not have to develop separate applications or websites but a single one to welcome everybody to make them feel more inclusive.

What's next for Universal Travel

  1. I am interested in thorough research, so the next step would be interviews with disabled people and their preferences and requirements while they travel.
  2. Connection with locals can do more, for example, they can create a whole plan for disabled people to travel in their city.
  3. More efforts towards High Fidelity prototype
