Inspiration
The inspiration came when I noticed the shift of universities toward remote learning. Most institutions lacked a dedicated learning platform and relied on Zoom, Telegram, or even WhatsApp groups to share lectures. I saw a great opportunity to improve this situation by creating a unified, efficient solution.
What it does
The platform allows instructors to upload all their lectures in one organized place, while students can easily access and interact with them. It also integrates AI to summarize lecture videos, explain content, and answer students’ questions instantly.
How we built it
Hossam designed the user-friendly and visually appealing interface in Figma, and developed the front end and back end using Visual Studio and PHP. He also contributed to the AI process by supporting integration and testing. Omar focused on the AI integration and used FFmpeg to handle video uploads and text extraction. He built models that process the extracted text and provide intelligent responses to student queries.
Challenges we ran into
Handling large video file uploads and ensuring fast processing.
Extracting accurate text from lecture videos for AI processing.
Designing a seamless experience for both teachers and students.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Successfully created a working prototype that combines video upload, text extraction, and AI interaction.
Developed a clean and user-friendly design from scratch.
Implemented real-time chat between students and teachers
What we learned
Advanced techniques in video processing and text extraction.
How to integrate AI with educational content for real-world applications.
Importance of user experience design in e-learning platforms.
What's next for University platform
I plan to complete all remaining features to make the platform fully functional, including online exams, research submissions, and assignments. Additionally, I aim to integrate AI into these features — from assisting with homework to monitoring students during exams to prevent cheating.
