Inspiration

Mustering up the motivation to achieve a goal can be difficult. Keeping that motivation going can be even more difficult. This is the very reason that Apex Axolotls set out to create UpGrowth, an app that encourages people to stay on track and achieve their goals!!

What it does

UpGrowth is a social platform that allows users to share their goals and achievements with each other! The user can add goals to their goal page and update the status of those goals. When a goal's status is set to complete, the user is prompted to make a post about their achievement. These posts are sent to a scrolling media feed, which allows users to interact with other users through comments and congrats.

How we built it

A lot of planning went into making UpGrowth. Apex Axolotls formed about a week before hacking started, and we brainstormed the entire week leading up to the hack. We created previews and came up with the features that we wanted to implement on the day of the hack. We decided to develop our code using XCode as our project is designed for IOS compatibility

Challenges we ran into

Not everyone on our team has access to a MAC, which caused the coding to be more of one person's focus. This made it difficult for them to collaborate with others as they were not able to share the task, as well as our team's familiarity with the XCode Language. We faced the challenge of time constraints. As the conference went on, we learned about new concepts that could only strengthen our idea. This includes the Google sign-in, however, our app was not prepared enough to become secured to do so.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

The development of motivational quotes and photo icons was only the beginning of our prideful accomplishments. Although these tasks may seem minimal, all the effort and time put into these are vital to the development of our program.

What we learned

Working as a group has allowed all of us to learn about new tools and resources! Members shared design tools, like Canva, Logo Lab, Iconfinder. Some members were introduced to new collaborative programs such as Github.
