Inspiration
Our project was inspired by the believe the only way to solve a problem is together and if everyone pitch in to solve the problem. That's why we came up with the idea of making a website where people can help contribute to making their city better.
What it does
It allows people to report issues they find around the city, suggest improvement, and engage with their community through forums
How we built it
We built it by using React, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, as the front-end and CSS for styling. The goal was to use Selenium for the automated report form where people can fill out a form about issues that they have around the cities and that will streamline the process of reporting an issue on the government's website
Challenges we ran into
We ran into the problem of integrating the back-end using JavaScript, Python Script and Selenium(a library form automated browsers.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of the basics layout of the website that we have and the idea that we came up with. Along the way we ran into some problems with the tech stack and we pushed through and that's all that matters while we may not exactly have the website that we wanted.
What we learned
Even though our attempts of having a back-end didn't work, we learned more about the back-end side of web development particularly Firebase, Selenium, and Python. And we learned that teamwork that matters because we all came together to solve the problems that we encountered throughout 24 hours journey of creating the website
What's next for UrbanVoice
We hope to finish the vision of the project by finishing the back-end integration for a seamless experience for the users and create a robust website that can help the city.
