Inspiration

While at a hackathon this past weekend, I was planning to do some coding. However, since my group members were busy with work and preferred to do a design track instead, I decided to follow along. The moment I decided to not follow through with my personal goal, I lost motivation. Even though I worked throughout the hackathon, I came out more disappointed. Since I already competed in design track for my last hackathon, I felt it was too repetitive and that I wasn’t getting the most out of my experience as I could have. If I had known, I would have tried to convince my group members to follow through with my idea. I think teamwork is a major factor in determining the success of a project, so being able to communicate is a skill that I feel like I could work on. Even though the competition is about hacking, I think they would be more enjoyable if the groups are diverse and well-balanced. It gives people a chance to reveal their unique perspectives and meet new people without having to feel the pressure of giving in to something just because their friends want to do

What we learned

I learned the importance of speaking my mind and being more confident with the choices I decide to make at a hackathon. Not winning a hackathon does not discourage me from doing them. In fact, it makes me want to do them even more, improving each time.

What's next for Οvercoming challenges

I hope people learn to use their mistakes as a way to view their potential. It makes me excited to learn more skills so I can apply them in competition an face my fear of loss/rejection.
