Inspiration

We were inspired by weather prediction software such as the one employed by weather.com. We found the topic of climate change to be very interesting, so we melded these two ideas to create our project.

What it does

It uses data that we provided and a regression formula we created in order to predict future temperatures with global warming.

How we built it

We used google colab and a data set in order to build it.

Challenges we ran into

The data set was very messy and inconsistent. We had to spend an hour cleaning it up before using it. The set used two different ways of displaying the date, and we wanted to filter out specific years from the dataset. We had to create a complex method to normalize the inconsistencies in the dataset.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We actually were able to filter out the data we needed and used a consistent algorithm in order to provide an accurate prediction.

What we learned

We learned that to make a good product, sometimes you need to start with brute force, and think outside the box.

What's next for Sustainability and Societal Welfare

We want to make our prediction algorithm more comprehensive and accurate. We also want to include a better UI, as we were unable to complete that in time.
