A technology to support the determination of the most power efficient driving route:-
Our technology concept provides for the collection and sharing of 'geo-encoded fuel consumption data'.
While travelling, each vehicle records the volume of fuel it is using at approximately 30 second intervals. The GPS location of the vehicle is simultaneously recorded.
This data is gathered through existing on board telematics, or though the addition of a GPS/GSM enabled OBDii dongle. Where permissible, the dongle also stores the make and model of the vehicle.
Using UMTS, WiFi or similar, the vehicle occasionally transmits this data to our web service where is is anonymously stored. Over time, we use this crowd sourced data to build up a picture of the 'energy cost' of each segment of highway in the country.
This data is then contributes to existing SatNav technology to inform users of 'the most power efficient route to their destination'.
