Inspiration

Our inspiration for developing cutting-edge AI-powered offensive security tools for blockchain companies came from the challenges and vulnerabilities we faced and witnessed in the blockchain space. Giovanni, one of our founders, had personally faced this problem during his time at Subtractive, where a smart contract had to be shut down due to a vulnerability, costing significant potential revenue. We saw a clear need for effective security solutions in the growing blockchain industry, which is currently valued at over $50 billion, with $3 billion worth of funds stolen in exploits last year alone.

What it does

Vigilance is an AI-driven security solution designed for blockchain companies that helps detect vulnerabilities in their smart contracts and codebase. By leveraging advanced machine learning techniques, Vigilance is able to:

  1. Scan and analyze smart contracts and source code for potential vulnerabilities, including known and emerging threats, in real-time.
  2. Provide a high detection rate and precision, enabling companies to quickly identify and address security risks before they lead to costly exploits.
  3. Integrate seamlessly with GitHub repositories and development workflows, allowing teams to maintain security and compliance throughout the software development lifecycle.
  4. Offer actionable insights and recommendations on how to remediate detected vulnerabilities, making it easier for developers to prioritize and fix security issues.
  5. Continuously improve its detection capabilities through iterative learning and model updates, ensuring it stays up-to-date with the latest security trends and vulnerabilities in the blockchain ecosystem.

How we built it

We started by breaking down the literature in the space, incorporating our research, and architecting ML pipelines to disrupt the blockchain security landscape. We went heads-down and built our MVP product (one-click install to your GitHub) and MVP ML architecture. We achieved better accuracy than industry-standard security applications on several critical vulnerabilities by using LLMs, graph neural nets, and other cutting-edge machine learning architectures.

Challenges we ran into

  1. Staying ahead of the curve: The blockchain security landscape is rapidly evolving, and keeping up with the latest advancements and vulnerabilities is challenging. We had to dig deep into existing research and think creatively about developing ML architectures that could better mimic an auditor.

  2. Distribution: We aim to get wide distribution quickly and integrate with as many ecosystems as possible. Building a network and partnerships in the industry is crucial to achieving this goal.

  3. Scaling: As we plan to capture a significant portion of the untapped total addressable market for blockchain security, scaling our product and team efficiently and rapidly is essential.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

  1. Building an MVP that already outperforms industry standards in detecting common critical vulnerabilities with 94.33% accuracy and a <3% false positive rate.
  2. Developing a one-click GitHub integration, making it easy for teams to integrate Vigilance into their existing workflows.
  3. Creating a comprehensive and ambitious roadmap that aims to revolutionize the blockchain security landscape, leveraging cutting-edge AI techniques and architectures.
  4. Assembling a diverse and highly skilled team of founders with expertise in cybersecurity, blockchain, software development, and machine learning, who are passionate about solving complex challenges in the security space.
  5. Securing offers to participate in prestigious incubator programs such as the Berkeley Blockchain Xcelerator and the One-Piece-Labs Incubator, which validate the potential of our product.

What we learned
