Inspiration

We noticed that many students, including us, struggle to stay focused on their assignments at home due to the countless distractions from social media, the internet, and all other forms of digital entertainment. Because of this, we wanted to make it as easy as possible for people to efficiently manage their time and keep a healthy balance between school and personal life.

What it does

Visualize combines several productivity tools to help students effectively manage and complete their school coursework in one seamless web app. Teachers post assignments on the platform, and students are given 4 ways to visualize their tasks for the day: List, the simplest way to view all of their coursework, KanBan, which lets students organize their completed, in-progress, and to-do assignments, Pomodoro, a technique which boosts productivity and minimizes distractions by having students do focused work in 25 minute intervals, and Mind Map, which lets students organize their thoughts in a meaningful way to help them complete their assignments.

How we built it

We used Vite/React and Tailwind to build our frontend, and firebase for our backend.

Challenges we ran into

We had trouble trying to synchronize changes in assignments between students and teachers

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We have functionally made almost everything we wanted to include in our project.

What we learned

We learned how to manage changes between the front-end and back-end of our app.

What's next for Visualize

We plan to further improve upon the 4 main ways to visualize tasks, as well as add more, such as a digital calendar or an Eisenhower matrix.
