Inspiration
Lung cancer is the second most common cancer. Early detection saves lives, and understanding your health shouldn’t be complicated. VitalView simplifies this process by using AI to analyze scans and highlight potential concerns, while also generating interactive 3D visualizations to make results easier to interpret. Our goal is to make medical imaging more accessible, helping both patients and doctors gain clearer insights. By bringing more awareness and better tools to lung health, we’re making early detection easier.
What it does
VitalView is a web app that revolutionizes lung cancer detection by enabling users to upload CT scans for real-time analysis. Our AI model identifies cancerous regions and presents an interactive 3D visualization of the scan, making it easier for both patients and healthcare professionals to understand the results. VitalView enhances early detection and improves accessibility to critical health information.
How we built it
Frontend: React, Next.js, Tailwind CSS Backend: PyTorch 3D Visualization: Three.js
Challenges we ran into
Creating the 3D model was one of our biggest challenges. Working with medical scan data and translating it into an interactive visualization required a lot of optimization. Ensuring the model accurately represented lung structures while keeping it smooth and responsive was tricky.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of the interactive 3D model we were able to implement. It allows zoom in and out capabilities, as well as transparency to see the lungs and its affected areas clearly.
What we learned
This project taught us many things. One that stands out to us in the opportunity to use three.js
What's next for VitalView
We would like to expand VitalView beyond just lung scans. Our goal is to incorporate support for other types of medical imaging, such as heart scans, brain MRIs, and other diagnostic scans.
