Inspiration
We live in the wonderful city of Boca Raton and when presented to look for any problems Boca Raton faces we noticed that hurricanes are the most disruptive, destructive and devastative to our community. Having an all in one tool for helping during the case of a hurricane can strongly benefit our environment.
What it does
Our program is designed to help civilians know which zones are at danger, find the right shelter for safety, locate the hurricane and its trajectory, find the supplies necessary, and provides emergency contacts for all types of situations.
How we built it
We built this program within visual code studio and used HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to make its interface. For the various tracker tools we found them within the web and attached them to our program.
Challenges we ran into
Some of the challenges we ran into were the website not opening, minor command issues, and some bugs that needed to be fixed.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
The various trackers were what we are most proud of, as well as making our site look very official and professional.
What we learned
We learned that working together and deciding together instead of allocating each other to different tasks is more beneficial to completing a project.
What's next for Vortex Alert
We think we could add a communications system which would let the civilians within Boca Raton talk together and help each other. This system could be used for trading of supplies within the community.
