Inspiration

Water mapping was created because of the recent events seen in Nuevo Leon, Mexico. From the beginning of 2022, Nuevo Leon´s primary source of water, Presa la Boca, was finally drained out because of the use it was given in the past decade, therefore the water provided by the government to the citizens of Nuevo Leon was very poor in quality, contaminated and in many cases, the water didn't even arrive because of the low pressure that the government implemented.

What it does

Following what was previously stated, the main objective of Water Mapping is addressing this problem by creating a web platform in which citizens can interreact with in other to be conscious about what the current potability levels of water are, which is the presume level of the water provided, and the precipitation level in their zone, generating awareness between the citizens and the government.

How we built it

We build a simple React One Page App, with the use of React-Azure-Maps. We deployed this project on with the help of Vercel: watter-mapping . Also we developed the modelation with the use of specialized sensors and build an IoT implementation. By the other hand, we developed a Neural Network to predict the climate in the region.

Challenges we ran into

Somes of the challenges seen throughtout the development of this project were mainly about the current knowledge we had in web development and the implemention of different mapping APIs, especially the first option from Google Maps react API

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are really proud for completing the Hackathon Monterrey 2022 challenge with a proyect that can be useful to society, as well as with what each member learned personally throughout this past 24 hrs

What we learned

We learned alot about the implementions required into Web Development, as well about how to implement IOT into a real world projecto using differnt APIs by different providers

What's next for Water Mapping

Water Mapping is a proyect that does not need to stay neccesarly in the Mexico Country, it can be implemented into different parts of the world which may find it useful.
