Inspiration

Every drop counts. Yet, millions of liters of water are wasted daily due to poor awareness and lack of tracking. We built WaterSathi to empower individuals and communities with smart tools to monitor, save, and sustain water usage.

What it does

Track water usage: Users input daily activities (shower, laundry, cooking) → WaterSathi estimates total water consumption.

AI Chatbot: Personalized suggestions (e.g., “Switch to low-flow taps, you’ll save 20L/day”).

Water Footprint Dashboard: Charts + visualizations of individual/household usage trends.

Community Challenges: Join “Save 100L in 7 Days” challenges to encourage collective action.

How we built it

Frontend: React (web app) / Flutter (mobile prototype).

Backend: Firebase / Node.js (fast setup for auth + data storage).

AI Integration: OpenAI API (for chatbot tips & recommendations).

Charts & Data Viz: Chart.js / D3.js for water footprint dashboard.

Optional Extension: Google Maps API to locate nearby free water refill points.

Challenges we ran into

Keeping the app simple yet impactful within limited time.

Integrating AI responses into a lightweight frontend.

Designing visual dashboards that are easy to understand.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Built a working prototype within hours.

Designed a tool that aligns directly with the #TeamWater mission.

Created something scalable & impactful for communities worldwide.

What we learned

How small changes in lifestyle can save thousands of liters per year.

Rapid prototyping with AI + charts can turn ideas into solutions fast.

Hackathons aren’t just about code—they’re about real-world impact.

What's next for WaterSathi

IoT Integration: Smart meters to auto-track usage.

School/Edu version: Fun water-saving games for kids.

NGO Partnership: Connect with water NGOs to spread awareness.

Global Impact: Scale WaterSathi into multiple languages for worldwide use.
