Inspiration
So I was browsing Nasa's API website and came across one which provides mars weather, of course I had to use that for the hackathon who would not. Also the name wathur come from a typo in weather. lol
What it does
It fetches the data from the API and displays it to the website, It also shows some facts about mars. And there is also some cool animations in the website.
How we built it
Using simple html css and javascript. Axios to fetch data. Literally getting random numbers for the animations.
Challenges we ran into
So the first API we got was from the insight rover, but after searching I discovered that insight was no longer sending weather data from mars but I really wanted to do that Mars weather website. After a thorough search I came across Nasa's curiosity rover which was also sending weather data, but it had no API. That website contained the weather measurements. At first I wanted to scrape the website, but then after one more long search I finally got the API, thank god it was active.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I'm going to lie the animations were the one
What we learned
Just the fact that we get Mars' weather on earth, isn't it useless?
What's next for Wathur
Set up a weather station Mars... we'll go with Elon Musk
