Wave2K

For members of the Gen Z community, the 2000s is the epitome of nostalgia. Wave2K attempts to answer the question: What makes it nostalgic? Is it the song itself, or the memories attached to it?

We asked: Has music gotten less nostalgic?

What it does

  • Comes to a conclusion about how the idea of "nostalgia" was represented in the Top Hits of the 2000s and how it has evolved.

How we built it

  • Data retrieval using Python scripts to work with the Spotify API
  • Data cleaning using R
  • Data analysis using R
  • Data visualization with d3.js
  • Photoshop and Illustrator to customize the background/logo
