WaveSend: Making Money Moves Easy and Fair for Everyone
Inspiration
We started WaveSend (wavesend.xyz) because we saw a big problem: lots of people around the world can’t use money systems because they live far away or don’t have good internet. We wanted to fix that by using Bitcoin, a super safe and popular digital money that doesn’t need a bank. We also wanted to use a cool technology called LoRa to help people in far-off places send money, even without internet. Our dream is to make a fair money system where everyone can join in, no matter where they are, using a system that’s not controlled by big companies or banks.
What it does
WaveSend is a simple app that lets people send money using Bitcoin in a way that’s fast, safe, and cheap. You don’t need a bank to use it—it’s just you and your money! With our project called WaveSend-BTC (you can check it out at https://github.com/wavsend/wavesend-btc), you can send Bitcoin to anyone, and it keeps your information private so no one can spy on you. It can also work with different kinds of digital money in the future and even do smart deals automatically. The best part? We use a special tech called LoRa (we’re in phase 4), which lets people in faraway places with no internet send money using signals that travel really far. Unlike other money apps like M-Pesa, Orange Money, or Airtel Money, which use old ways like SMS and USSD, WaveSend is modern, fair, and works for everyone.
How we built it
We made WaveSend by putting together Bitcoin’s safe system with a special signal tech called LoRa. Bitcoin lets people send money without a bank, and LoRa helps send messages over long distances without needing much power, which is perfect for places with no internet. We added features to keep your money safe in your control and make sure no one can see what you’re doing. We also made it so WaveSend can handle different kinds of digital money and do automatic deals in the future. Our team worked hard, testing everything to make sure it works well, even in tough places with no signal.
Challenges we ran into
Building WaveSend wasn’t easy. Getting LoRa to work with Bitcoin was tricky because we had to make sure messages could travel far and still be safe. We also had to figure out how to keep your info private while following rules, which was hard to balance. Plus, big names like M-Pesa and Orange Money are already popular, so we had to work extra hard to show why WaveSend is better and easier to use. It took a lot of time and effort, but we kept going because we believe everyone should have a fair way to send money.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We’re super proud of what we’ve done with WaveSend! We launched WaveSend-BTC, which lets people use Bitcoin to send money safely, even in far-off places. Our LoRa tech is a big win—it helps us reach people that other apps like M-Pesa, Orange Money, Airtel Money, Standard Bank, Access Bank, Eco Cash, and Machankura can’t, as you can see in our chart. We also added cool features: WaveSend keeps your info private, lets you control your money, can work with different digital coins, and even does smart deals automatically—most other apps can’t do that! We’re most proud that we’ve made a fair app that helps people everywhere join the money system without needing a bank.
What we learned
While building WaveSend, we learned a lot. We found out that making things simple is super important, especially for people who don’t have much tech around them. We also learned how to mix new tech like LoRa with Bitcoin, which was like solving a big puzzle. Talking to people in faraway places showed us what they really need, which made us work even harder to help them. We also learned that listening to users helps us make WaveSend better, so we can keep improving while sticking to our goal of fairness for everyone.
What's next for WaveSend
We’ve got big plans for WaveSend! We want to add more kinds of digital money and connect to other systems like Bitcoin’s Lightning Network, which will make sending Bitcoin even faster and cheaper—almost like magic! This will help people send money in seconds, especially in places where every penny counts. We’ll also keep making our LoRa tech better so more people in far-off places can use WaveSend. Our goal is to grow WaveSend into a big, fair money system that helps millions of people around the world, and we’re just getting started.
Dear judges, WaveSend is all about making money fair and easy for everyone. By using Bitcoin and cool tech like LoRa, we’ve built an app that’s safe, simple, and works anywhere. We care about keeping your info private, giving you control, and helping people who’ve been left out of the money system. With our plan to add the Lightning Network, we’ll make Bitcoin even better for everyone. Picking WaveSend means believing in a world where everyone can send money easily—a world we’re building, one step at a time.
