Inspiration
Most habit apps feel lonely and boring. You download them, use them for a week, then forget about them. We wanted to make something fun that you'd actually want to use with your friends—where you can see each other's progress and cheer each other on.
Instead of just checking boxes alone, you take care of Wedoo the bear together. When you complete tasks, Wedoo is happy. When you skip them, Wedoo gets sad. Your friends can nudge you to keep going, so you guys can keep each other accountable.
What it does
Wedoo is a habit tracker you share with friends. Here’s what it does: AI helps you come up with tasks, or you can write your own Take photos to prove you did them Your bear reacts to how well you and your friends are doing Send friendly notifications to keep each other on track See everyone's progress to stay connected
Building good habits is hard alone. With Wedoo, you're doing it as a team—and you have a cute bear counting on you.
How we built it
- React Native/Expo: rapidly develop and test a responsible, cross-platform experience
- Figma: UI/UXdesign - used to prototype screens, refine user flows, and ensure an intuitive and friendly experience
- Supabase: Powered the backend, handled authentication, data storage, friend connections, and shared interactions
- Gemini API: supports intelligent and dynamic interactions within the app
- Git: allowed us to work in parallel effectively, managing version control, and making rapid improvements
Challenges we ran into
One of the biggest challenges was balancing playfulness with usefulness—making sure the app felt fun without losing purpose. Designing social features that felt supportive rather than competitive was also tricky. On the technical side, syncing interactions between friends while keeping the experience smooth required careful state and data management.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We’re proud of creating a cohesive experience where design, character, and functionality all reinforce the same goal: connection and care. The bear feels alive and purposeful, and the social interactions feel intentional rather than forced. Most importantly, the app reflects our original vision without overcomplicating the user experience.
In addition, this project represents a major milestone for our team—none of the four of us had ever built an iOS app before. From learning a new mobile stack to shipping a fully functional, interactive app, we pushed ourselves outside our comfort zones and successfully turned an idea into a real product.
What we learned
We learned that emotional design matters just as much as features. Small details—animations, tone, and feedback—can significantly impact how users feel. We also learned the importance of building with flexibility, allowing us to adapt features as the idea evolved.
What's next for Wedoo
Next, we plan to expand the interactive elements, deepen friend-based features, and personalize the bear’s responses even more by adding text bubbles, animations, and more interaction! We also want to explore new ways for groups and communities to use Wedoo together, continuing to grow the app as a shared space for wellness and connection.
