1. Budget Bliss - The User's Compass: Set Your Limits: The app starts with the user setting a realistic weekly grocery budget. Transparency is key; show them how inflation might affect their usual spending.

Track Your Triumphs: Integrate a running total of remaining budget after each recipe selection. Seeing their savings grow becomes a motivator. (this feature currently has bugs)

Dietary Preferences: Cater to dietary needs and restrictions. Let users filter for vegetarian, gluten-free, etc., ensuring everyone finds budget-friendly options.

In times of high inflation, our app can be a beacon of hope. By empowering users to conquer the kitchen and stay within budget, we'll be offering more than just recipes: we'll be offering peace of mind and a sense of control. Our app can be the Sarah-saver, the budget-balancing hero, and the community that thrives on good food and smart spending. Our goal is to turn meal planning into a stress-free, budget-friendly adventure!

How we built it

This was initially built by creating a series of AI prompts, along with specific user defined parameters to generate recipes and corresponding grocery shopping lists utilizing publicly available AI services such as Azure Open AI (GPT4 Turbo with Vision, GPT35 Turbo and Dalle3.Additionally, Azure Web Apps, and day tier services include Azure OSS Databases. It was very interesting to compare the results of the two AI models and the results from both were promising which encouraged us to take the next step to begin creating an application

We are proud to have a starting framework created and leveraging AI for some processes. This is the beginning of a very extensive and hopefully very beneficial service for many families.

What we learned

This may already be obvious to many, but creating an application is hard!! Trying to take an idea from concept to reality is very challenging and this project seeks to connect to a vast array of information via recipes and real time grocery inventory and pricing data, utilizing AI to make sensible and consistent decisions. Acquiring funding and developing a monetization plan will be critical in being able to continue development.
