Inspiration

Capital One prompt at the hackathon which was about helping people manage their finances.

What it does

Tracks any expenses or money one makes as well as tracking one's investment portfolio and providing summaries to help people make smarter decisions with their finances and for summaries of how they managed their finances.

How we built it

We made a web app with a tech stack including react for the frontend, node for the backend, and mysql for connection to a database.

Challenges we ran into

We ran into many issues surrounding a lack of experience with the tech stack and we weren't very careful with our git commits to remote causing many hiccups surrounding directories and files that should've been ignored being committed and causing issues when trying to run the web app.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We managed to use a tech stack we had zero experience with and make a product that worked (albeit there are issues such as the ability to SQL inject which we couldn't handle due to time constraints) and we are proud of our ability to plan and brainstorm as a group so effectively.

What we learned

We have NEVER used this stack before so we learnt a lot about stuff like JSX, making GET/POST requests between the front and backend and connecting a web app to a database.
