Inspiration
We were inspired by the status bar that pops up in the Spotify app, letting the user know what songs their friends are listening to. This led to the idea of an app that would notify the user's friends what exams their peers or close friends are studying for to encourage more collaboration.
What it does
The website shows the user a visual display of their various friends, what exams they are studying for, their confidence level in their exam, and where they are studying.
How we built it
We used html, CSS, and Javascript.
Challenges we ran into
We were originally trying to utilize Android Studio, however, the backend implementation proved to be too complicated for the short time frame we were restrained to, so we pivoted towards working through Visual Studio Code instead.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We gained a lot of experience and technical skills in web development, as well as improving on our overall collaboration skills.
What we learned
We learned how to collaborate effectively in a team, how to divide tasks and encourage one another while giving valuable constructive criticism. In the time span given, we create a close bond amongst one another and worked effectively to compile a final product.
What's next for Whatchu Studying ?
We hope to be able to implement more visuals as well as more filters to make the app more specialized. An ideal future for Whatchu Studying would be an animated map that visually displays where the user's friends are located as well as filters to allow the user to search for specific users taking the same exam.
