Inspiration

Money Momey was born out of the common frustrations of international travel. Many travelers struggle with understanding exchange rates, figuring out how much their money is actually worth abroad, and locating a reliable place to withdraw cash. Whether it's dealing with unexpected fees, running out of physical currency, or struggling to find a bank branch that supports your account, managing money across borders can be overwhelming.

Our goal was to simplify this process by creating a platform that helps travelers make informed financial decisions while abroad. With Money Momey, users can easily access exchange rate information, identify nearby bank locations, and avoid the hassle of unexpected banking challenges.

What it does

Money Momey provides a seamless way to navigate international banking and currency exchange. The platform allows users to:

Check real-time exchange rates to understand how much their money is worth in different countries. Find nearby bank branches and ATMs that are compatible with their financial institution. Access essential banking information to avoid hidden fees, unfavorable conversion rates, and unnecessary stress while traveling. By consolidating this information in one place, Money Momey helps users manage their finances more efficiently while on the go.

How we built it

We developed Money Momey using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to create a user-friendly web experience. To ensure accurate and up-to-date exchange rate data, we integrated a currency exchange API that allows users to quickly convert between different currencies.

The design process was an iterative one—we aimed to make the interface intuitive and accessible, allowing users to navigate features effortlessly.

Challenges we ran into

One of the biggest challenges we faced was designing an interface that was both functional and visually appealing. As developers, we realized that neither of us had strong design skills, which made creating a user-friendly experience more difficult. Throughout the development process, we had to refine our layout multiple times to ensure a smooth and engaging user experience.

Additionally, integrating the API and structuring the data in a way that was both accurate and efficient required careful testing and troubleshooting.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are incredibly proud of bringing Money Momey to life. Despite facing challenges in design and implementation, we successfully built a functional platform that addresses a real problem faced by international travelers.

What we learned

Throughout this project, we gained valuable experience in collaborative problem-solving, API integration, and front-end development. Working as a team, we learned how to divide responsibilities effectively, communicate efficiently, and adapt to challenges along the way.

Additionally, we recognized the importance of user experience and design in building an intuitive platform. This experience has given us a deeper appreciation for UX/UI principles and how they impact overall usability.

What's next for Money Momey Moving forward, we aim to enhance Money Momey by adding new features and improving existing functionalities. Some potential next steps include:

Expanding our database to support a wider range of international banks. Implementing a feature that provides real-time alerts on currency fluctuations. Enhancing our UI/UX design to create a more visually engaging experience. Developing a mobile-friendly version of the platform for easier access on the go. Ultimately, our goal is to continue refining Money Momey into a must-have tool for anyone navigating international finance.
