The purpose of this study is to identify key features and bottlenecks that exist in Integrated Development Environments (IDEs) when completing a basic program, in order to extract information about the creation of a new IDE. By using HCI Paradigms and topics to study this topic the goal will be to identify what features in an IDE work best for programmers and which portions of the interface can be improved to better suit developers. The reason why this study is critical is because there are many IDEs that exist and being able to identify what works across all of the different environments and using that data to develop a new IDE will benefit developers creating an environment which will benefit everyone involved. The stakeholders will be able to get their applications developed faster and the developers will be more satisfied and less stressed when their IDE’s are tailored more to their coding styles.
