Inspiration
All of our team members are currently in a data structures course and wondered if we could give our professor a more simple yet detailed way to teach us data structures without having to draw them all the time.
What it does
So far, we only were able to implement a home page, a very basic instructions page and a nonfunctional array page.
How we built it
We used react-native, expo/expo go and javascript to create what we have. React-native gave us the tools to build the mobile application. Expo make running our code easier by letting us use the Expo Go App on our phones in order for us to scale our project.
Challenges we ran into
Our biggest and really only challenge was the huge learning curve of react-native. For most of us it was our first experience with JavaScript and these other technologies and for one of our teammates who has used JavaScript, react-native and expo completely changed his understanding of how to code in JavaScript.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are extremely proud of the fact that we were able to create a stable application. We are also proud of the fact that we were able to do minimal styling.
What we learned
We can honestly say that we learned a lot. From basic mobile app development using react-native to version control with GitHub/GitHub Desktop, were gained immense knowledge on team project development.
What's next for YCP DSV
For future plans, we would like to reconstruct the project as a web application and then try to port it to be a deployable mobile app with APK packages.
