“Romantic love” involves wanting to rub your body on the other person’s body. Period. This is synonymous with being “in love”. You want to be physical with this person as well as hang around them and experience both their personality and body.

Lust = wanting to be physical, but you don’t really care about hanging around with the person.

The separate term “romantic” by itself can mean being sentimental or having other soulful feelings. Not related to boning.

There a tons of levels of friendship and types of plutonic love. You can be soulmates or kindred spirits in a completely plutonic way. Best friends, siblings, cousins, childhood friends, someone you’ve bonded with over shared experiences (roommates, summer campmates, coworkers, survivors of trauma, etc).

It’s also common to have romantic love with one person and be soulmates with someone else. Your best friend might know you better than your lover.

Frat hazing, like in SOTUS, can definitely bond people into kindred spirit/plutonic love situations. But having watched it, I have to say that the main couple in SOTUS is definitely more romantic love than bromance.

For censored C-dramas like Stay With Me, you can have romantic love that is not consummated-- especially when the characters are teenagers. You can convey romantic love feelings to the audience with mutual looks between characters or private moments with a single character.

So, yes, you can have a BL with no physical contact, but you have to convey to the audience that the characters WANT to have physical contact because romantic love involves wanting that. Otherwise, it’s a bromance. Just saying you want to be friends forever is not enough.

May I know why volunteer team edited subs usually come late now on recent dramas? It it a licensing reason or Viki’s decision? Before when My Beloved Thief aired, it doesn’t have a team editing the presubs until the end of the drama, and I’m concerned that this will always be the same now on the dramas they recently acquired.

Regarding the later addition of volunteer teams to recent dramas, I believe it is a Viki decision. It seems to be a new policy by V for certain dramas. I do not believe that it is driven by liscensing agreement terms, but rather internal policy decision at V. From what I have observed, I feel you can expect this trend to continue going forward with the newly acquired dramas. That said, this policy does not seem to be applied across the board for all new dramas. It seems to be in place most consistently for new first-run Korean dramas. For other Korean content, such as Variety shows, Daily dramas, and Older dramas, as well as content from other countries (China, Taiwan, Japan, Thailand, etc) the wait time for the creation of Volunteers Teams varies. Some content is assigned a CM and volunteer teams right away (or even before upload) as has been the usual procedure, some content has a delay before a CM/volunteers are chosen and allowed to work on the projects, some content is not open for CM/volunteers until after all episodes have been posted.
Again, my feeling is that the delay in allowing volunteers to work on the projects is a V policy decision and not related to liscensing agreements and will continue going forward, but that is just my feeling after having observed the situation and having worked on some recent projects. As to why V decided to enact this new policy, I am not sure. Perhaps others here in the forum may have additional information and can comment further.
