Search and get album, track info from Discogs.com

AppleScript for iTunes

Obligatory warning: This script has been designated as an obsoleted "Retro Script". There is no guarantee that it will function as described with modern versions of iTunes (or the newer Music or TV apps) and/or macOS. If used in its current form it may not work at all without modification. At worst, it may corrupt or delete data.

Two scripts assist with searching and then retrieving track and album information from Discogs.com, a community-built online music database:

  • Discogs Search will use the artist (or album artist, if available) and album tags of the playing or selected iTunes track as the basis for a search for the album's master entry at Discogs and display the result in your default web browser.

  • Discogs Tracks to iTunes will scan a Discogs album page for track names and sundry album info which can be applied to the tracks in the selected iTunes playlist.

Designated as a Retro Script because: most likely incompatible with modern version of the Discogs site.
