Durham Build Day: Official Rules Dates
  • Event Date: Tuesday, May 17th.

  • Hackathon Duration: 16:00–20:00 (4-hour sprint).

  • Full Schedule: The event runs from 16:00 until 21:30.

Eligibility
  • Target Audience: Open to "top builders" and student entrepreneurs.

  • Registration: Participants must fill out the official sign-up form in the bio to secure a spot.

  • Affiliation: Hosted by Entrepreneurs Durham and CompSoc, primarily for the Durham University community.

Project & Submission Requirements
  • Start-from-Scratch: Projects should be built during the designated 4-hour window.

  • Startup Focus: Projects should prioritize action, creativity, and execution with potential for real-world application.

  • Technical Demo: Submissions must be ready for review by 20:00.

  • No Words Constraint: Visuals and demos should communicate the project's value clearly and concisely.

Prizes
  • 1st Place: £200.

  • 2nd Place: £100.

  • 3rd Place: £50.

Judging Criteria & Winner Selection
  • Technical Execution: The quality and functionality of the code or prototype built during the sprint.

  • Innovation & Creativity: How unique and creative the solution is in addressing a specific problem.

  • Pitch & Q&A: Performance during the Q&A session at 21:15 following the keynote.

  • Founder Perspectives: Projects will be evaluated through the lens of entrepreneurial viability, inspired by speakers like Edward Twiddy and Hammed Arowosegbe.
