2nd Creative Commons Algeria Chapter Meeting – September 24th, 2019

The Second Creative Commons Algeria Chapter meeting was held at the University of Bejaia on September 24th, 2019. The meeting was inline with the broader agenda mentioned on this link: https://oaalgeria.wordpress.com/2cc/ .  After a welcome message greets participants, Prof. Kamel Belhamel, Algeria chapter lead, has given a session on the history and mission of Creative commons organization. This organization has released several copyright-licenses known as Creative Commons licenses free of charge to the public. All Creative Commons licenses have many important features in common. Every license helps creators to retain copyright while allowing others to copy, distribute, and make some uses of their work – at least non-commercially. In his presentation, Kamel Belhamel has encouraged the participants to become members of the Creative Commons Global Network and help restructure the CC-Algeria chapter. Around 35 participants from 48 people signed up to join in the meeting. Almost of them are PhD and Master students. The preparation of the meeting started over a month by CC Algeria members (Miss Nour, Sonia and Chiraz). Some participants sign up for different activities (advocacy, outreach, open Access and OER development). They are Interested to understand more about CC licenses and become a part of the chapter.

• As participants from academia, all discussion were focused on open access journals, open science, open education and on how to choose CC license. During CC Algeria chapter meeting, a flyers  were distributed.

Critères d’indexation des Revues en Libre Accès dans le DOAJ ( Directory of Open Access Journals) – 24 Octobre 2019

 Durant la semaine mondiale sur le libre accès ( International Open Access week) du 21 au 27 Octobre 2019, une conférence a été organisée en présence des chercheurs et des éditeurs des revues scientifiques en libre accès à l’Institut Marocain de l’Information Scientifique et Technique IMIST- CNRST – RABAT. Maroc

L’intitulé de la conférence: Critères d’indexation des Revues en Libre Accès dans le DOAJ .

Dans sa conférence, Pr. Kamel Belhamel a parlé sur les Critères d’indexation des Revues en Libre Accès dans le DOAJ, les bonnes pratiques dans l’édition éléctronique et les licences Creatives Commons.

Workshop sur la Création et l’Indexation des Revues Numériques – 25 Octobre 2019

Pour célébrer la semaine mondiale sur le libre accès ( International Open Access week) du 21 au 27 Octobre 2019, l’Association marocaine pour le développement de l’Information scientifique ( AMIS) , l’Université Hassan II Casablanca et le DOAJ ont organisé un Workshop sur la Création et l’Indexation des Revues Numériques

L’objectif de ce workshop est d’accompagner les chercheurs à créer leurs revues numériques, d’expliquer les licences creative commons et de renforcer la visibilité de la recherche scientifique au Maroc.

Ce workshop a eu lieu  à la Bibliothèque Universitaire Mohammed Sekkat , Université Hassan II de Casablanca. Il sera animé par Mr. Kamel Belhamel, Ambassadeur de DOAJ ( Directory of Open Access Journal) pour l’Afrique du Nord et Moyen Orient .

Dans sa présentation, Pr. Kamel Belhamel a parlé sur les droits d’auteur et les licences creative commons .

In as many ways we can use Creative Commons to share, learn, and communicate with like-minded people around the globe, we can explain what it is that Creative Commons does. There are countless blogs, pictures, lectures, and songs on the benefits of CC. This time around, however, we’ve worked with the highly creative animators of WikiKiwis to produce an informative and entertaining animation explaining why and how Creative Commons achieves what it does best; promote sharing and creative content generation while respecting intellectual property rights.

The animation [comically] depicts creative people as they innovate with arts, science, literature, and music only to be hindered by the current strict regulations on copyrights. These regulations often do well with regards to protecting intellectual property in the physical, but their outdated restrictions compromises our ability as a global network of creative content creators to share and modify work freely and openly.

Enter Creative Commons: the protagonist of the story that helps us all share, mix and remix — while respecting copyrights! By providing content licenses which are primarily designed to allow for creative works to be used, modified, and shared, Creative Commons paves the way for a global community of inspired and inspirational content creators and users that can-in turn-revolutionize the way we work together through the Internet.
