CA Math Performance Data
Math proficiency is essential for long-term success in school, career, and life. Yet far too many students—particularly Black and Latino students, students from low-income communities, and English learners—are not meeting grade level standards.
Math learning is cumulative, and research finds that students who struggle with foundational math skills in the early grades continue to fall further behind without timely, targeted intervention. As a result, these students are significantly less likely to advance into higher-level courses, graduate from high school, attend college, or enter the ever-growing STEM career field.
SB 1067 will help to address achievement gaps before they become life-long opportunity gaps.
