About Me

images/ElenaGeorgieva_small.jpg Hi! My name is Elena. I am an audio researcher specializing in music information retrieval (MIR), listener studies, and large-scale audio analysis. I recently completed my PhD in Music Technology at New York University's Music and Audio Research Lab (MARL), where I was advised by Dr. Brian McFee and Dr. Pablo Ripollés. I am currently on the Adjunct Faculty at NYU, teaching Concert Recording I. Before coming to NYU, I taught sound recording at Stanford's Center for Computer Research in Music and Acoustics (CCRMA), where I received my Masters degree in 2019.

As a musician, I am a singer and perform with several vocal groups in New York City; currently in Gotham Chorus and Yasna Voices Bulgarian Choir. I also work on computer music, most notably contributing to "The Furies," with the Stanford Laptop Orchestra (SLOrk). Finally, I am an award-nominated audio engineer/ producer, most known for my work on vocal music. In 2020, I was featured in the Stanford Daily for my contribution to the singing community at Stanford.

As of March 2026, I am currently looking for full-time roles, applying to academic and industry positions. Please check out my CV, and reach out if you know of any opportunities that may be a fit for me– thank you!
