About

I’m glad to see you here! My name is Shanbo Zhang. Take a look around to learn more about me, my research, my interests, and my life.

I’m currently a senior/fourth-year undergraduate student majoring in Computer Engineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

I love computer systems, and I am passionate about making them more efficient, flexible, and meet modern demands. I am particularly interested in operating systems and their interactions with adjacent layers, especially computer architectures. My recent research focuses on hardware-software co-design for operating systems to better support emerging workloads and novel hardware. I am also interested in operating systems support for novel memory systems and heterogeneous computing.

During my undergraduate studies, I was fortunate to have the opportunity to work with and learn from Professor Tianyin Xu, Professor Sarita V. Adve, and PhD students in their research groups. Their guidance and mentorship have been invaluable in shaping my research interests and skills.

I will graduate in May 2026, and I am in the Fall 2026 application cycle for graduate schools. I am excited about the prospect of continuing my studies and research in computer systems and contributing to the field.

If you are interested in my research or exploring potential collaborations, please feel free to reach out to me via email. If you want to know more about me beyond research/engineering, you can check Misc page.
